Kelly Morel is a Paralegal with the Law Office of Leon Aussprung MD, LLC. She joined the firm in September 2021. Kelly is a seasoned paralegal with over 10 years of experience ina wide variety of personal injury and medical malpractice prelitigation and litigation. She currently works primarily with Robert P. Weiner, Esquire, and specializes in personal injury cases, as well as handling estate work, wills, and collections. Kelly also assists the other attorneys in the firm, supporting them in personal injury cases, complex medical malpractice litigation, and other cases.
Kelly is bilingual, speaking both English and Spanish, and utilizes her language skills to assist clients. She is a native New Yorker, who was born in Brooklyn and raised in the Dominican Republic until the age of 12, when her family relocated to Ozone Park, New York (Queens). In queens, she attended M.S. 210, John Adams High School, and graduated at the early age of 16 and went on to attend Borough of Manhattan Community College for two years majoring in Nursing. This study of nursing equipped Kelly with a deep understanding of complex medical issues and helps her in educating clients, digesting client’s medical records, and evaluating potential cases.
She began her legal career in New York in 2011 working as an administrative assistant in Manhattan, assisting attorneys with civil rights and personal injury cases. Kelly ultimately relocated to Philadelphia in 2017 to be close to her mother and father. Upon relocating to Philadelphia, Kelly continued her legal career and worked for a prominent firm that specializes in motor vehicle accidents, personal injury, and medical malpractice cases. Her past experience also includes immigration law, in which she assisted with the translation of documents and the completion of immigration forms.
Kelly has been involved in all phases of personal injury cases from start to finish. In the course of her daily duties, she regularly assists with client interviews, calendars appointments, prepares legal documents, drafts correspondence, obtains medical records correspondence, communicates with medical providers, and participates in trial preparation. Kelly’s unassuming and pleasant nature instantly puts clients at ease. She supports Robert P. Weiner as his paralegal and is responsible for the day-to-day handling of cases, including proficiently opening a claim with an insurance company, property damage assistance, policy limits assertions, guiding the client through their treatment process, maintaining a communication channel with the client, and ensuring clients get the treatment they require.
Additionally, Kelly handles disbursements, processing health insurance, medical liens, including ERISA, FEHBA, Medicare, Medicaid, VA and Worker’s Compensation liens, and overall pre-litigation production. She gathers and reviews all medical records and bills, as well as creating letter demands for the Attorney’s review, in order to ready the firm for the negotiations and ultimate settlement. Kelly currently resides in Philadelphia with her adorable dog, Bailey a Shih tzu. In her free time, Kelly enjoys spending time with family and friends and loves swimming. Kelly is also a Notary Public for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
